The Early Years
Dan Graham's style and personality are a reflection of his interesting and experiential life. It is best to let Dan tell you about the early years himself.
"I was born at a very early age, and from that time on I have aged. My first memories are from my life in Glasgow Scotland, where I endured 2 years of school with the mandatory pint bottle of warm milk everyday. My father and I escaped the rain and drizzle (Scotland’s two official seasons) and sailed to the 'new world' on a ship where I was the only child. The ships crew found a small plastic horse on wheels that I rode around the ship. My dad said that it was always easy to find me and he knew who I was visiting because all he had to do was look to see whose cabin my horsey was parked beside. This was the beginning of my entertainment career. Dad recalls that I would do Jimmy Cagney impressions and do little skits and my pay was candy and pats on the head (please note: my fee scale no longer includes candy or pats on the head) from the ship bound passengers who were unable to escape for 12 days! I continued to develop my entertainment skills in elementary school and on through high school where my teachers would often say 'Mr. Graham, I hope you plan on going into entertainment for a career...' I would like to now thank all those teachers and my fellow class mates for encouraging me to make entertainment my career!."
Music was Dan's first career, but after the failure of his first and only record, he worked as a publicist with a wide array of musical artists. He dabbled as a journalist, interviewer and radio personality before paying his dues as a stand up comic. Using the skills he polished as a DJ while in high school, he was hired to host concerts, festivals and eventually corporate events. After spending 6 years as the Executive Director and Emcee of the popular Blues Brews & Barbeques festival in Kitchener, Dan started his own production company and record label. Today flamingcheese productions ltd. has 4 divisions: flamingcheese productions - produces concerts and tours; flamingcheese records - has released 5 CD's in its first year and is the label of Cheryl Lescom, Shawn Kellerman and Loco Zydeco; flamingcheese music - a publishing division for Dan and a stable of well respected song writers; and flamingcheese consulting - that provides event and festival consulting to clients. Dan now regularly works as an emcee and speaker at concerts, festivals and corporate events, using all of the above experience to help him entertain his audiences and deliver his clients message and help them achieve their goals and expectations for each event.
